Junior Analyst – Merchant Risk Monitoring

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Junior Merchant Risk Analyst to support the ongoing monitoring of merchant accounts and transaction activities. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying high-risk merchants, reviewing risk alerts, and assisting in fraud investigations. Your proactive and investigative approach will help safeguard the organization from fraudulent activity and ensure compliance with internal risk policies. What will you be working on
  • Merchant Transaction Monitoring: Monitor daily merchant transaction activity and review system-generated risk alerts.
  • Risk Identification: Detect unusual transaction patterns and identify potentially high-risk or suspicious merchant behaviour.
  • Investigation: Analyse merchants and their transaction behaviour and perform preliminary fraud analysis.
  • Escalation Management: Escalate suspicious or high-risk cases to senior risk analysts or managers in a timely manner.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear and accurate records of investigations, actions taken, and outcomes for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Communication: Coordinate with internal teams, merchants, and banking partners for clarification and resolution of alerts.
  • Fraud Prevention Support: Assist in ongoing fraud prevention initiatives and monitoring activities.
  • Compliance Support: Ensure activities align with company policies, risk guidelines, and card network standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of fraud monitoring or risk analysis.
  • Familiarity with payment processing and card networks is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders.
